At an annual check up I informed the doctor of a specific issue. He took 3 vials of blood.

3 months later I was sent a bill for $6,500 for lab work!!

The insurance company claimed they don’t cover annual check ups (why wouldn’t you want people to HAVE check ups so they don’t get really sick??). I asked the insurance company if I should have made a second appointment and wasted the doctors time instead of combining the issues? They said if I wanted to pay pay privately they could lower the bill to $4,000!! What a myre of administrative bureaucracy!! Finally, the doctors office said they would resend the bill with different codes. I still don’t know if they’re “fixing” the bill or made an honest mistake but these types of issues are constant. I jokingly claimed that I’d end up with anxiety and psych problems long before I became really sick. I honestly don’t know how people with REAL issues have the time, money or mental acuity to follow up on all the administrative errors. No wonder people go bankrupt or don’t get check ups till it’s too late. This is not healthcare, it’s HEALTHSCARE!! (And I have “good” coverage!)
