I moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina. Massachusetts has a progressive health care system for lower income people. The children’s father does not keep them covered in terms of health and dental coverage. Massachusetts will cover me as well as the children. NC Health Choice has been covering the children – I get $8800 in child support per year – worked for two months at $5000 total – and they’re trying to tell me I need to come up with $100 – per year – plus co-pays when I am currently not working – leaving my income for the year well under the $30040 limit. Last time I appealed one of their decisions, I didn’t even hear back from them. Even with me working for the last two months, and the temp job ending, why do I have to explain my total earnings to them? Why don’t they figure this out for themselves? I can imagine most people don’t even question them on the way they work the formula.
