I am retired as a result of a disability acquired while working for the Department of Defense that is regulated under “The Longshoreman’s Act”. Well documented complications, thrombosis, PTS, lung embolism, post-embolitic pulmonary hypertension, cerebral hemorrhage and other maladies associated with PTS, with objective test results from many different specialists over the last 16+ years have left me unable to engage in any gainful employment. The new insurance regulator for the Department of Defense has canceled all disability payment and claims for medical coverage as a result of the accident based on a letter requiring a response sent to an address where they knew that I would not be. The letter was clearly a device to controvert payment. After reviewing all files the US Department of Labor’s office in New York City sent them a recommendation to immediately reinstate all benefits which the insurance company flatly refused to do. I will soon lose the only insurance coverage, German insurance, that I will ever able to receive as a result of non-payment. I am now homeless and am writing this letter on a borrowed computer at a compassionate friend’s home. My attorney tells me that it will eventually be ‘ironed out’ but in the meantime I have lost everything I have ever worked for in my life and the only insurance coverage that I will ever be able to receive will not be reinstated because of the ‘pre-existing condition’. The attorney also tells me that I will most likely have no recourse against the insurance company after all is ‘ironed out’ for their deliberate and malicious ruination of my life. I am hoping that someone will read this and give me any level of suggestion of where I can turn to for help.
